Some very good news! We’ve made it to Parliament!!!
On Wednesday 23rd January 2013 we saw a huge step forward in the campaign when MP Dan Rogerson asked the Prime Minister at Prime Minister’s Questions about the restrictive practices of mortgage lenders.
Given the keen interest of the Prime Minister in single markets, will you look at mortgage lenders restricting legal work to a small number of larger firms and depriving local practices of the work which keeps them at the heart of local high streets and the striving small business economy?
The Prime Minister responded by saying yes! He would like to look closely at the situation because he does want to see a competitive market for conveyancing and the financial services! You can see the exchange here.
We are delighted that the Prime Minister wants to investigate the matter. So thank you very much indeed! Your support means a lot. By standing together, we have managed to take a great step forward in the campaign for consumer choice and for the High Street.
Please can you continue your support by sharing the petition with your friends and family and also by leaving your comments on our blog posts which we regularly send to Vince Cable’s Office.
We also have some printed postcards which people can sign and post to Vince Cables office. Every day one or two cards arrive to remind him how important it is to you the consumer to have access to independent legal advice, to have consumer choice and a local high street that works for the community. If you would like us to send you some, please drop us an email campaign@banksbad4biz,co.uk.
You can also follow the campaign on twitter @banksbad4biz and use the hashtags #banksbad4biz and/or #seprep to help raise awareness and debate.
We will keep you in touch with further developments as they happen, so watch this space with great expectation!
Onwards and upwards!
