Banksbad4biz is a campaign against the banks so as to keep legal services available & accessible to the consumer in the High Street. Recent changes brought in by the banks now prevent many high street law firms from acting for their local clients when buying a property with a mortgage from any of the main lenders. The bank/lenders will dictate which conveyancer the borrower can use. If the borrower proposes to use their own solicitor, some lenders threaten to withdraw the mortgage offer, or will make their costs to be separately represented, expensive.  We see this as an attack on consumer choice and the high street.

We hope you will join us as we write to the Minister for Business, The Rt Honourable Dr Vince Cable whose department BIS says that small businesses are vital to the country’s economy. Their main ambition is to remove the barriers that prevent small businesses from growing. We are asking for a change in the law that will enable high street law firms to stay and grow, serving their local community and adding to their local economy.
